I believe that therapy is a cooperative process that requires a strong, trusting relationship between a client and the therapist. I provide a warm, safe, and accepting environment in which one can explore a wide range of issues and concerns. Examples of such issues include depression, anxiety, childhood behavioral issues, adjustment concerns, family and interpersonal relationship difficulties, and life transition issues. I have a history of working with children, adolescents, adults, and families in a variety of contexts. The ideal client is one who is interested in self-exploration and the possibility of change.
I have experience in and enjoy working with groups. I am familiar with reporting procedures for court ordered treatment and the group processes common to such treatment. I also conduct evaluations such as Mental Health Evaluations, Driver's License Evaluations, testing for learning disabilities, and ADHD evaluations.
I have extensive experience working with developmental disabilities and special needs children and adults. Among such disorders appropriate for therapy are higher functioning Asperger's Disorder, Down's Syndrome, etc. Social skills training, coping skills, anger management, and other skills particular to these disorders are an important focus of treatment.
