I offer relief from the effects of physical abuse, sexual abuse, and traumatic experience. Trauma can refer to any overwhelming experiences - usually, the longer the duration, the greater the effects.
Time does not heal these wounds - we may experience the effects of our experiences years or decades later. Effects can include numbness, panic attacks, bursts of anger, dissociation, eating disorders, sleep disorders addiction, anxiety, physical pain, etc.
All of these are normal responses to abnormal experiences. My work focuses on helping others experience relief from these effects, and be able to experience their best selves in an ongoing manner.
My approach tends to be 'bottom-up'. I help people attend to how their body and emotions experience life, and use this as a basis from which to create new experiences. Somatic therapy tends to be action oriented - thinking is good, and thinking + action is better.
I blend meditation & mindfulness practices, Somatic Psychotherapy, EMDR, Dialectic Behavioral Therapy, with traditional psychotherapy.
